How It Works?

We do newborn casts at our studio in Golders Green – NW11 9BY
Baby casts are treasured family gifts, but we understand you might have concerns about the process – a lot of things become a worry when you have a newborn. Here are the ins and outs of baby casting you should know about.

The baby casting process takes around half an hour from start to finish.

First, I will create the moulding mixture, blending together an impression powder called alginate, and water. Alginate is 100% safe for newborn babies and pregnant women, and is hypoallergenic, meaning that it is also safe for people with allergies.

When the mixture is ready, I will gently squeeze it around your baby’s hand or foot until it sets. Once the mixture is set, you can easily pull away your baby’s limb without creating any discomfort for the little one.

A tip from Sweet Baby Memories: Always moisturise your baby’s skin before taking the impression, especially if your baby has dry skin. You can use your baby’s regular skin lotion.

Next, I will discuss the mounting options with you. Sweet Baby Memories offers a variety of Luxury wood frames, as well as multiple personalisation options with plaques, pictures, printed text, and more.

If you want to use a studio-quality picture for the keepsake, we can organise a newborn photo shoot before we get the baby cast impressions.
